Feeling left out of the NDIS?

Are you finding it difficult to share in the excitement about the NDIS launch sites announced last week?

The Australian Government negotiated NDIS launch sites with South Australia, Tasmania, the Australian Capital Territory and New South Wales. There are also reports that Western Australia is looking positive and still might share in the launch on July 1, 2013.

But Queensland missed out. It’s not acceptable.

Tell Premier Campbell Newman now that we expect him to deliver on his support for the NDIS.

The Queensland Government says there is no spare money for an NDIS launch site. Tasmania and South Australia also have tight budgets, but they still managed to come to an agreement and secure launch sites.

A launch site would cost $20 million, but the Government has other priorities – like horse racing where they will invest $110m.

It seems Queensland was never serious about securing an NDIS launch site. The Government did not lodge a detailed submission – only a short letter expressing general support for an NDIS launch as long as the Australian Government funds it.

You can help Premier Newman reconsider his priorities by sending him a quick email today.

Premier Newman needs to hear from you, so he will place humane, decent support for Queenslanders with disability at the top of his list of economic reforms.

And remember to stay strong! The NDIS has come a long way with you supporting the Every Australian Counts campaign. As long as we keep campaigning, we will make sure that every Queenslander counts too.

P.S. What else can you do?

Contact your local State MP – go to http://www.parliament.qld.gov.au/members to find their details and tell them that the NDIS has to come to Queensland.

And forward this email to your friends in Qld. Ask them to email the Premier – while they are there they can sign up to support the campaign.
